Our Background
Kyotera Domiciliary Foundation is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that is registered with URSB and with Kyotera District Community Development Office. We work towards advancing health standards of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged population in Kyotera district and beyond by availing affordable quality and accessible health programmes and services to the neediest communities
Kyotera Domiciliary Foundation was founded in 2017 by Ms. Josephine Nantongo along with a Co-Founder Ms. Lwekunda Lucy as a community based organization with an aim to improve health standards as well as the general social status of people by addressing challenges to accessing health services that arise from socioeconomic disparities among the community members including health information, skills and knowledge. Besides, the organization aimed at increasing community members’ participation in health, social and development programmes through mobilization and advocacy and availing and linking them to existing health opportunities and resources. Our main target communities then were; Kabano and Kasasa. Besides, our population was; pregnant teenagers, single mothers, pregnant and breast feeding mothers, youth, and sick elderly. As our human resource increased and thematic program areas expanded, we scaled up our target population and geographical area to Kakuuto County and Kyotera district and beyond.

Since Kyotera Domiciliary Foundation was founded, we have emerged as an innovative and holistic health-focused organization that provides a wide range of health and para-health interventions and services to the community. Our program implementation and service delivery are based on our firm and functional administrative, human resource, finance and community and collaborative systems for now close to 6 years. Our programmes and services include but are not limited to; promotion of maternal and child health (ANC & maternity, Neonatal and Child feeding and immunization), Sexual, Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), HIV/AIDS (HCT & ART Care) and PLHA psychosocial support, community health sensitization and capacity building, skills development and knowledge transfer for disease prevention and control, and Water, Sanitation an Hygiene (WASH). In addition, we run a clinic (Ssanje Domiciliary Clinic, our health arm) that offers medical and related para-health services. Our interventions and services are offered at an affordable rate and at times are completely free of charge given the moderate socioeconomic standards of our target population and community. We implement our programmes both independently and at times in collaboration with local leadership, community based organizations and other humanitarian agencies along with government systems and structures.
